The Royal Norfolk Show

The 26th and 27th of June found us again at The Royal Norfolk Show, once again we were pleased with how well set out our stand looked, we were even more pleased that the Judges thought along similar lines as we were awarded Reserve Champion for the Barclays Trade Stand Award. A big thank you to all the exhibitors who made this possible. We always look forward to complementing the working area adjacent to our stand and their displays of bygone farming were a real pleasure to watch, some of our Club members take part in this display. For the first time this year we took part in the pageant celebrating 100 years of the NFU and 75 years of Young Famers which took place in the Main Ring it showed farming and events through the ages, a sight worth seeing and very well presented, our thanks to all club members who took part. Finally a big thank you to all who supplied cakes and help in the tea tent. We now look forward to The Summer Show, Worstead Festival and Aylsham...

Club Season

How the year has flown by, we attended The Royal Norfolk Show in June, then on to Worstead Festival, The Summer Show at Marsham and finally the Aylsham Show. All events were well attended and as always we appreciate all the help which we receive to set up and close down, we always hope the public enjoy what we do. The Summer Show as in previous years had some interesting exhibits of which some had not been seen in Norfolk before. Aylsham Show saw our chairman Richard organising his last event for the club as he stepped down from this role. At our September club meeting at Bawburgh we presented both Richard and Ruth with a thank you gift from us...

Plough Sunday

On Sunday 14th January we were invited to Norwich Cathedral to take part in the celebrations for Plough Sunday and evensong. Plough Sunday marks the beginning of the agricultural year, the seed and equipment being blessed in the hope of a successful harvest. Once we were all in place the tractors with ploughs paraded round the Close at the Cathedral, the Dean looked completely at ease seated upon George's tractor just before the parade. We all had a good if slightly chilly time and those of us who went to evensong were more than rewarded by a beautiful service. Our thanks to the Cathedral staff for all their help, after all it's not everyday you get to see a tractor and ploughs in...

Aylsham Show

The final outing this summer for the club took us to the Aylsham Show held in the Parkland of Blickling Hall on August Bank Holiday Monday. This year the sun shone, it was very hot and sun cream and hats were the order of the day. As always members worked hard to make the area look good with a great display of tractors, implements, stationary engines, horticultural and one or two more "quirky" exhibits. "Buttercup" is a vehicle powered by a stationary engine and looks very much like a "Flintstone car", it towed a small trailer shaped like a barrel where Richard's dog travelled quite happily, Richard also provided us with music played on a gramophone powered by steam, a big talking point with lots of people taking an interest. Sunday saw a Road Run for the tractors take place and many took the opportunity to see the countryside, lunch was held at a pub on route. Thanks to all who helped to make such a lovely...
